We are delighted to welcome you to the Ravens Class page. Here in Year 2/3, we are a class full of curiosity, creativity and kindness. Our classroom is a place where everyone is valued, learning is exciting, and we work together to be the best we can be.

What We’re Learning This Term (Autumn 2)

Topic: Stones and Bones

English

This term, we are working with exciting Stone Age themes and texts. We will be:

  • Writing narratives, focusing on building engaging beginnings and middles, using adventurous vocabulary and adverbials.

  • Writing instructions, learning how to use clear steps, time conjunctions, and command verbs.

Maths

We are building our confidence and efficiency in:

  • Addition and Subtraction

  • Multiplication and Division

We will focus on choosing the most efficient strategies and explaining our reasoning clearly.

Science – Rocks

In Science, we will learn about:

  • Different types of rocks

  • How rocks are formed

  • Fossils and how they are discovered

  • The properties that make rocks useful

History – The Stone Age

We are travelling back in time to discover:

  • How early humans lived

  • Changes from the Stone Age to the Iron Age

  • Homes, tools, hunting and gathering, and life in early settlements

Creative & Wider Curriculum

  • Art/DT: Prehistoric-inspired painting and creative making.

  • Music: Learning and performing with rhythm and expression.

  • PSHE: Celebrating difference.

  • PE: Developing coordination, control, and creativity through movement and sports.
