A warm welcome back after a restful Christmas break. I hope you enjoyed quality time with friends and family. Heading into Spring, we have an exciting term ahead!

This term's history focus provides cross-curricular links to English and PSHE. We will study key figures, including Ernest Shackleton, by examining images of him and reflecting on what we can learn from them. Pupils will explore the early expeditions Shackleton participated in and consider their impact on his family. The investigation will continue up to the present day, including the 2022 rediscovery of his ship. Drawing on this knowledge in English, children will write a journey tale and an information text about Antarctica.

Maths

The KIRF (Key Instant Recall Fact) this term:

Year 1:

-Know all the doubles and halves of even numbers to 20

Year 2:

-Know multiplication and division facts for 2x table

The Top Marks game 'Hit the Button' is a fun, free online game that ensures children to build fluency and speed in a range of mathematic skills.

Children also have access to the online platform TT Rocks Stars. Children in Robins should begin to explore times tables in preparation for later this term. Their log in information can be found inside the yellow reading record.

English

Children will receive red words on flashcards to learn at home. These are common words used in writing, so it is very beneficial to learn them each week and in preparation for a spelling test each Friday.

As always, if you have any questions or queries, don't hesitate to get in touch.
